Swimwear by Sara Cristina

Sara Cristina is a successful Venezuelan Designer who lives in New York. She obtained her degree in Visual Communications, and afterward, Sara Cristina returned to her hometown in Venezuela in what she describes as a breaking point in her life. Her new revamped needs to communicate met with a lifelong passion for fashion and the contrasting landscapes of her coastal native land. Sara Cristina Swimwear is born out of that combination of aspirations, and a concrete space she found in the market for beachwear in the luxury tier.

When did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer? How the idea of Sara Cristina starts?

A childhood in eastern Venezuela marks my first footprints in the artistic creation of Sara Cristina Swimwear. My conception of fashion was deeply influenced by my closest references: the swing of the native coast and the ideal classic closet of my mother. After completing my studies in social communication, and visual arts, I dared to succumb to my most beloved passion: fashion. The unexpected acceptance of my first collection of swimwear led me to take with determination the path that had always wanted. It is a dream that is ongoing from the streets of New York and from the headquarters of Sara Cristina Swimwear. In this city, I’m inspired by the tremendous diversity to fill my brand with ideas for all, always with the vision of the universal beauty within each woman.

I am a big fan of your work, and I can’t wait for the next collection, what can we expect for the next collection?

Thank you! The next collection is inspired by the word nostalgia and the 90s. You’ll see sheer fabrics mixed with solid colors and satinized lycra.

As a Venezuelan designer living in New York what’s it like being in the Fashion industry?

It is the same for everyone. It doesn’t matter where you’re from. You just have to work hard.

What do you like about your work?

What I like the most about my work is the creative aspects of it. I like to be able to enhance the beauty of our customers. We want our women to feel secure, unique, elegant, and beautiful wearing our product.

What inspires you at the moment you create a bathing suit?

Everything can be inspiring, however, I find a lot of inspiration when I travel. Fabrics inspire me a lot as well.

Tell us about your swimwear last collection, what was your inspiration

Agua was inspired by the waters of the Caribbean. I combined the practicality, and simplicity of New York design, the luxury of European Craftsmanship and materials, and the vibrant sensuality of my native Caribbean coast.

You are successful for many reasons, tell me 3

I try to be the focus; creative and always trust my intuition.

What advice would you pass along to those starting in the Fashion Business?

My advice will be to work hard, believe in yourself because that’s one of the pillars to always move forward and follow your instincts.
