When did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer?

I never knew this was something that just happened. I actually studied art and had my own painting studio. I just started to make some sweaters for myself and people started to like them and asked where they could buy them.

What’s it like being in the fashion industry

A constant challenge

How is the fashion industry in Bogota?

Well at this moment is difficult to define as the world is redesigning itself as it happens with every crisis.

What was your first job in the fashion industry?

I started designing my own clothes and did some clothes design for TV-shows in Mexico.

Talk about the changes in your life since you‘ve your own clothing store as a Fashion Designer

Well, I started such a long time ago that I would say it was always there in my life.

How do you choose your inspiration?

From life itself; sometimes it’s a culture, sometimes it is art or nature… this depends on the moment of life we are living.

What advice would you pass along to those starting as a Fashion Designer

Be unique; never copy and stay true to yourself.

Tell us about your last wedding collection

I don’t actually do wedding collections. I only design unique pieces made to measure for some very special brides, the process is long and very specialized.

My latest collection is the Spring Summer 2020. Inspired by the AFRICAN sapeurS, Pepa Pombo’s most recent collection embodies the beauty of AFRICAN IKTS. BATIKS AND SCARIFICATIONS of this culture. The FLORAL, elephant footprints, and batiks are all present in the bold prints.

Overwhelmingly female silhouettes, skirts, lapel blazers, wide-leg pants, jumpsuits, and effortlessly elegant dresses showcase a series of knits and prints in a rich summer palette of sand, grey violet, warm grey, Pompeian red, emerald green, navy, thistledown, and pink.

All the pieces feature the brand’s signature knit in a variety of techniques and many of them are reversible. Versatile and practical.
