Serena Goldenbaum Interview

Serena Goldenbaum is a German makeup artist and star visagist; I had the opportunity to meet her on the LOV Cosmetics event on the 28 of March in Vienna. LOV Cosmetic organizes a beautiful event for Austrian bloggers, to present their latest products. To be honest, I have never tried before LOV Cosmetics, and let me tell you, now they are part of makeup routine now. Although was the event to get to know the brand better, having the opportunity to meet Serena and talk to her about beauty was fascinating. Serena worked with top models and stars like Sylvie Mais, Bar Rafaeli, and Helena Fischer, and had built a strong career as an international Makeup artist, in addition, she also has her own Beauty academy in Hamburg, where you can take different courses. Moreover, she has a beauty book: Beauty secrets – Beauty inside you. I was captivated about Serena’s career, and I wanted to know how her journey started.

When did you know, you wanted to be a makeup artist?

My Father owns a Transvestite Cabaret and as a little girl I grew up with men dressing as women, doing their Make-up and performing on stage. This Beauty Transformation and what you can do with Make-up, Styling, and Hair fascinated me, that I wanted to become a hairdresser and then a Makeup artist. Since I am 10 Years old and dancing Ballet, I knew that I want to help people to look their best and boost their self-esteem through hair, makeup, and styling.

Who has inspired you throughout your career?

I worked with almost all Topmodels, like Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, Giselle Bündchen, Naomi Campbell, etc.  and many Stars.

To see that even a professional Model is not perfect, but knows how to show herself in the best light, work her features and transform herself with some Beauty-, Posing and Styling Tips inspires me to this day. I want to show everyone, that Beauty is not about being or looking perfect. It is about your Charisma and knowing how to reflect your inner beauty to the outside.

How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry?

I started to be a hairdresser when I was 15. With 20 I trained to be a makeup artist in London since then,  I am working for Photoshootings; TV Shows all over the world.

I started by just doing it, seeing clients and showing my work and asking for Jobs. Then people started recommending me and everything went it’s way.

How would you describe your signature look and what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?

I love a woman to look fresh, healthy, and happy, so I like to create that healthy skin glow. Even if I am doing a very strong makeup Look, the skin has to glow and look fresh.

What’s your favorite makeup product?

ooooh, there are so many…

What does beauty mean to you?

Everyone sees Beauty differently. For me, Beauty is in so many things, mostly nature. I am amazed by what nature created. Also faces, Human beings, animals, prints on animals, and that there is not a second one like you.

Which are the colors for this season?

Clear colors are in for spring. A strong Magenta, Fuchsia, Coral for Lips and türkis, petrol, blue for the eyes. But, subtle pastels and browns are also always in fashion, if they suit a person.

Which are the must make-ups every woman should have in the makeup bag?

Concealer, powder, mascara, blush, lipgloss

Tell us about your book Beauty for You

In my Beauty Book BEAUTY FOR YOU, I show, how Beauty is connected to the inside, to your thought and what you think about yourself. I show many beauty coaching Techniques, how you can lift your charisma and how to feel and look beautiful.

I see you have your beauty Academy where you give 6 different courses, which course is the most beloved?

In my ACADEMY, I am teaching to become a Makeup- artist, Hairstylist and Beauty Coach.

In my Make-up & Stylebar, I am teaching every woman all the beauty techniques which will make her more beautiful, so she can be her own Makeup -artist. I will show her, how to emphasize her features and her beauty in the right way, so she can do it herself.

Tell us about your cooperation with LOV Cosmetics

I worked with COSNOVA already on CATRICE. When they created the new label LOV, they ask me, if I would love to switch to LOV. And yes, I love the new brand LOV. I love the textures and colors and the pricing is very nice for a luxury look and feels the brand.

I am showing women how they can apply and you,  the wonderful products of LOV.

COSNOVA asks me, wich Products I am missing in the brand and how the Formulations are to work with professional Level. So I am giving my advice and consultation as a professional Make-up artist / Beauty Expert.
