PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 11 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Lemontrend (“we”, “us”, “our” or the “Controller”) processes personal data when you visit or use https://lemontrend.com and its related subdomains and services, including travel.lemontrend.com and flights.lemontrend.com.
This Privacy Policy should be read together with our Terms and Conditions and our Cookie Policy.
1. CONTROLLER AND CONTACT DETAILS
The controller responsible for the processing described in this Privacy Policy is:
Lemontrend
Sally Ruchman – Dettling
Silbergasse 15-17
1190 Wien, Austria
Email: [email protected]
Website: https://lemontrend.com
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or wish to exercise your data protection rights, you can also use our Contact Us page.
2. ABOUT LEMONTREND
Lemontrend is an Austrian digital media company and online magazine focused on fashion, travel and lifestyle. We publish editorial content, images and videos and provide travel-search, affiliate and advertising-supported services.
Some functions available through Lemontrend are provided by third parties. Where a third-party service is activated, that provider may process personal data under its own privacy policy.
3. WHAT INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
Information you provide directly to us
Depending on how you use the Site, we may process information that you voluntarily provide, including your name, email address, the content of messages or enquiries, newsletter subscription information, comments, and any other information you choose to provide.
We do not currently operate a direct Lemontrend checkout using WooCommerce, PayPal or Stripe. If e-commerce functionality is introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when such processing becomes active.
Newsletter information
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we process the information you submit to the subscription form, normally including your email address and, where requested, your name. Newsletter subscriptions use a double opt-in process. A confirmation message is sent to the address provided and the subscription becomes active only after the confirmation link is used.
Comments and public contributions
If you use commenting functions, information you submit may be publicly visible. Comments may be provided through Disqus as described below.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, technical information may be processed automatically. Depending on the service involved, this may include IP address, browser and device information, operating system, language, referring URL, requested pages, timestamps, security information, consent choices and interaction data.
Optional analytics, advertising and embedded third-party services are subject to the consent choices described in this Privacy Policy and our Cookie Policy.
4. PURPOSES AND LEGAL BASES FOR PROCESSING
We process personal data only where there is a legal basis to do so. Depending on the processing activity, the legal basis may include:
- Consent – Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: for optional analytics, advertising, marketing, newsletters, certain embedded content and other non-essential technologies where consent is required.
- Contract or pre-contractual measures – Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR: where processing is necessary to respond to a request made in connection with a service or potential contractual relationship.
- Legal obligation – Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR: where processing is necessary to comply with applicable legal requirements.
- Legitimate interests – Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR: for purposes such as website security, abuse prevention, technical operation, defending legal claims and responding to general enquiries, where our interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it at any time with effect for the future. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
5. CONSENT MANAGEMENT AND COOKIE SETTINGS
We use the Silktide Consent Manager to manage consent choices for Necessary, Functional, Analytics and Marketing technologies. The Silktide JavaScript and CSS used by Lemontrend are hosted locally on our own web infrastructure.
Your consent choices are stored in your browser using first-party storage, including local storage and the lemontrend_consent cookie. The shared consent state allows your choices to be recognised across Lemontrend and relevant Lemontrend subdomains, including our Travelpayouts white-label pages.
Our current consent decision validity period is 365 days. After this period, an expired consent decision is cleared and you may be asked to make a new choice. A new consent decision or a later change to your preferences starts a new consent period. A normal return visit does not, by itself, renew the consent period.
You can change or withdraw optional consent at any time through the Cookie Settings control available on the Site. Necessary technologies required for security, consent storage and essential website operation cannot be disabled through the consent manager.
6. HOSTING, CLOUDFLARE AND WEBSITE SECURITY
Hosting
Our web server is located in Germany. In operating the Site, server log data may be processed for technical operation, troubleshooting and security.
Cloudflare
We use Cloudflare services for content delivery, DNS/proxy functionality, performance, security, bot protection and protection against malicious traffic. Because Cloudflare operates as an intermediary between visitors and our server, technical data such as IP address, request information, device/browser data and security signals may be processed by Cloudflare.
For more information, please see Cloudflare’s privacy policy at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
Cloudflare Turnstile
We use Cloudflare Turnstile on forms and other protected areas to distinguish legitimate users from automated or abusive requests. Turnstile may process technical and security information required to perform this verification. We use Turnstile as a privacy-oriented anti-bot and security measure rather than Google reCAPTCHA.
CleanTalk and Wordfence
We use security and anti-spam services including CleanTalk and Wordfence. These services may process technical information such as IP addresses, request data, form metadata and security signals in order to detect spam, malicious activity, fraud, attacks and other misuse of the Site. The processing is based on our legitimate interest in protecting the Site and its users.
7. ANALYTICS AND TAG MANAGEMENT
Google Tag Manager
We use Google Tag Manager (“GTM”) to manage tags and consent-aware integrations on the Site. GTM is used as a technical management layer for services such as Google Analytics and does not replace the consent requirements that apply to the individual services loaded through it.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4 (“GA4”) to understand how visitors use the Site and to measure website performance. GA4 is implemented through Google Tag Manager and is controlled through our consent setup.
Analytics storage is not activated through our consent manager unless you grant Analytics consent. Where Analytics consent is given, Google may process information such as online identifiers, device/browser information, approximate location derived from technical information, page and event data, referrer information and interaction data.
Our GA4 configuration uses Google Consent Mode. Google Signals and user-provided data collection are not enabled in our current GA4 configuration. For more information about Google’s processing, please see Google’s Privacy Policy.
8. ADVERTISING AND GOOGLE ADSENSE
We use Google AdSense to display advertising on eligible pages, including relevant AMP pages. Advertising services may use cookies, local storage, device identifiers and similar technologies for purposes such as ad delivery, frequency control, fraud prevention, measurement and, where permitted by your consent, personalised advertising.
Advertising storage and related advertising consent signals are controlled through our consent setup. Where required in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google’s certified consent management functionality may also be used in connection with AdSense and the IAB Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF). This may result in a separate Google consent message being displayed in addition to Lemontrend’s general cookie settings.
Google and participating advertising technology providers may process data according to their own privacy terms. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy and the information shown within the applicable Google consent message.
9. AFFILIATE MARKETING, SHOPMY, RAKUTEN ADVERTISING AND TRAVELPAYOUTS
Lemontrend uses affiliate links, advertising widgets and travel-search services. If you click an affiliate link or interact with an affiliate widget, Lemontrend may receive a commission if you later complete a qualifying transaction. The price you pay is normally not increased because of the affiliate relationship.
ShopMy
We use ShopMy affiliate widgets on our /shop page and in selected posts. ShopMy widgets are treated as Marketing content and are blocked until the relevant Marketing consent is granted.
When a ShopMy widget is activated, your browser may connect directly to ShopMy and to technical service providers used by ShopMy. Based on the resources loaded by the current widget implementation, these may include services such as Stripe infrastructure and Google-hosted font resources. Technical information such as your IP address, browser/device information, referrer, page information and interaction data may be transmitted as part of those requests.
Lemontrend does not currently use Stripe as its own payment processor. Any Stripe resources loaded in this context are part of the third-party ShopMy widget infrastructure.
For more information, please see ShopMy’s privacy information at https://shopmy.us/legal/privacy-policy.
Rakuten Advertising / LinkSynergy
We use Rakuten Advertising, historically also known as LinkShare or LinkSynergy, for affiliate advertising and coded advertising widgets, including placements in article sidebars. These affiliate banners or widgets may be displayed when the relevant article page loads.
When Rakuten affiliate content is displayed or used, your browser may establish connections to Rakuten Advertising, participating merchants or technical providers involved in delivering or measuring the affiliate content. Depending on the implementation, technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, page and referrer information, click data and attribution information may be processed. Rakuten or participating providers may also use cookies or similar technologies.
Where non-essential cookies, identifiers or comparable tracking technologies are used, the applicable consent requirements must be observed. The current Rakuten/LinkSynergy implementation is being reviewed separately to verify the precise pre-consent network and storage behaviour. This technical review does not change your ability to manage optional consent through Lemontrend’s Cookie Settings.
For current Rakuten Advertising legal and privacy information, please see Rakuten Advertising Legal Notices.
Travelpayouts
We use Travelpayouts for travel-search and affiliate functionality, including our travel-related pages and the white-label services available through travel.lemontrend.com and flights.lemontrend.com.
Travelpayouts and travel providers may process search information, technical data, click/referral data and affiliate attribution information. When you proceed to a third-party airline, travel agency, hotel, booking platform or other travel provider, that third party processes your data under its own privacy policy. Lemontrend is not the payment processor for those third-party travel bookings.
10. DISQUS COMMENTS AND ADVERTISING
We use Disqus to provide commenting functionality on the Site. The Disqus embed is consent-gated and is not activated until the relevant consent has been granted.
Once activated, Disqus may process information such as IP address, browser/device data, identifiers, pages viewed, interaction data and information you submit through the comment system.
We use the free, advertising-supported version of Disqus. Disqus may therefore display advertising within the comment area and may involve advertising partners. Advertising-related resources may use cookies, identifiers and similar technologies for advertising, measurement and related purposes where permitted by your consent and applicable law. Whether a particular advertisement or advertising resource is successfully delivered can also depend on Disqus configuration, browser settings, content-security restrictions and other technical factors.
For more information, please see Disqus’s Privacy Policy.
11. EMBEDDED VIDEO AND YOUTUBE
Some Lemontrend content, including recipe content, contains YouTube videos. Embedded YouTube content is controlled through our consent system and requires the relevant Functional consent before the YouTube player is activated.
Once activated, your browser may establish a connection to YouTube/Google servers. Google may then process technical information, identifiers, device/browser information and information about your interaction with the video. If you are signed in to a Google account, Google may associate the interaction with that account.
For more information, please see Google’s Privacy Policy.
12. NEWSLETTER AND MAILERLITE
We use MailerLite to manage and send our email newsletters.
If you subscribe, we transmit the information required to manage your subscription to MailerLite. We use a double opt-in procedure. Subscription and confirmation information, including timestamps and technical information used to document consent, may be stored as evidence of the subscription.
We have email open tracking and link click tracking enabled. MailerLite may therefore process information about whether and when an email is opened, links clicked, timestamps, device/browser information and related technical interaction data. We use this information to understand newsletter engagement and improve our email content.
The legal basis for sending marketing newsletters and performing consent-based newsletter tracking is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in our emails.
After you unsubscribe, information may be retained where necessary to maintain a suppression record, demonstrate previous consent or comply with legal obligations.
For more information, please see MailerLite’s privacy policy at https://www.mailerlite.com/legal/privacy-policy.
13. WEBPUSHR
We use Webpushr in connection with push-notification functionality currently available on our Contact Us page. Push notifications are optional and are only enabled when you choose to allow them through your browser/device.
If you enable push notifications, Webpushr may process a browser or device subscription identifier, technical information and information required to deliver push notifications. You can revoke browser notification permission at any time through your browser or device settings.
14. SOCIAL MEDIA LINKS AND SHARING FUNCTIONS
Lemontrend maintains profiles on third-party social and content platforms, including LinkedIn, Threads, Facebook/Meta, X, Pinterest, Tumblr, Flipboard, Flickr, YouTube, Instagram and We Heart It.
The social icons in our footer are outbound links. They do not constitute embedded social feeds. When you click one of these links, you leave Lemontrend and the relevant platform processes your data under its own privacy policy.
On standard desktop and mobile articles, social sharing buttons are provided through the Monarch plugin by Elegant Themes. On AMP pages, social sharing buttons are provided through the AMP implementation. These controls are intended to let you initiate sharing to a third-party platform. When you use a sharing button, the selected third-party platform may receive information in connection with that action.
15. AMP PAGES
Some content may be available in an Accelerated Mobile Pages (“AMP”) version. AMP pages may use functionality that differs technically from the standard version of the Site, including AMP social sharing and Google AdSense.
The same principles described in this Privacy Policy apply to AMP pages: necessary security and technical processing may occur without optional consent where legally permitted, while non-essential analytics, advertising and similar technologies are subject to the applicable consent settings.
16. CONTACT FORMS AND ENQUIRIES
If you contact us through a form or by email, we process the information you provide in order to handle and respond to your enquiry. Depending on the nature of the enquiry, the legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR where the communication relates to a contract or pre-contractual request, or Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for other legitimate correspondence.
Forms may use security and anti-spam services such as Cloudflare Turnstile and CleanTalk. Those services may process technical information necessary to detect automated or abusive submissions.
17. INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Our primary web server is located in Germany. However, some of the third-party providers described in this Privacy Policy operate internationally or may process data outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”). It is therefore not correct to assume that all personal data remains exclusively within the EU.
Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA and an adequacy decision does not apply, the relevant provider may rely on safeguards recognised under the GDPR, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, together with supplementary measures where required. Some providers may also rely on an applicable adequacy framework where legally available.
The specific transfer mechanism may depend on the provider, processing location and service configuration. Further information can be found in the privacy documentation of the relevant third-party provider.
18. HOW LONG DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION?
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law.
- Consent preferences: the current Lemontrend consent decision is valid for up to 365 days unless you change or withdraw it earlier.
- Newsletter data: retained while you remain subscribed and, after unsubscribe, to the extent necessary for suppression records and proof of consent.
- Contact enquiries: retained for as long as reasonably necessary to respond and manage any follow-up, and longer where required for legal or business records.
- Analytics and advertising data: retained according to the relevant service configuration and provider retention rules.
- Security records: retained for periods reasonably necessary to investigate abuse, protect the Site and establish or defend legal claims.
Where data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it where reasonably possible. Data contained in backup systems may remain protected until the relevant backup is overwritten or expires.
19. HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR INFORMATION SAFE?
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures intended to protect personal data against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorised disclosure or access. These measures include security and traffic-protection services, access controls, website security tools and encrypted HTTPS connections.
No transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should therefore use appropriate care when sending information over the Internet.
20. THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES AND SERVICES
The Site contains links, advertisements, widgets and search functions that may direct you to third-party websites or services. Once you leave Lemontrend or activate a third-party service, the third party’s own privacy policy and terms apply to its processing.
Lemontrend is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites, merchants, travel providers, social networks or other external services. We encourage you to review the privacy information of any third party before providing personal data.
21. CHILDREN
Our services are not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16 through the Site. If you believe that a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so that we can review the matter and take appropriate action.
22. YOUR DATA PROTECTION RIGHTS
Subject to the requirements and limitations of applicable law, you may have the right to:
- request access to your personal data;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data;
- request deletion of your personal data;
- request restriction of processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests;
- receive personal data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format where the right to data portability applies;
- withdraw consent at any time for processing based on consent; and
- lodge a complaint with a competent data protection supervisory authority.
In Austria, the supervisory authority is the Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde (Austrian Data Protection Authority). You may also have the right to complain to the supervisory authority in the EEA country of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.
To exercise your rights in relation to processing carried out by Lemontrend, please Contact Us.
23. COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
For detailed information about the cookies, local storage and similar technologies used on Lemontrend, including cookie categories, providers, purposes and how to change your preferences, please see our Cookie Policy.
24. CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy when our services, technical setup or legal obligations change. The current version will be published on this page and the “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly.
