This waffle recipe, is in fact so crispy because of the amount of butter, and they are sweet because I add sugar, and of course a lot of mix berries with maple syrup.
After trying many recipes, looking for the perfect crispy waffles, I found that the amount of butter was important, also I didn’t use either yeast or baking soda because I like my waffle crispier, but you can also add a half of spoon of baking soda to make this recipe a bit fluffy.
Of course, you can use brown sugar instead of white sugar, or you can add cinnamon instead of vanilla. The idea with this basic recipe is for you to change it as you want to develop your own recipe.
It is important also to not over mix the batter, and this batter is very thick so try to distribute it well.
With this recipe yes! You can make a bunch and froze them for another day.
Normally, Belgian waffles are made with yeast but you can also use baking soda instead. They are normally eating at breakfast, and you can put any topping you want. In Belgium, you can find the Liege Waffle and the Brussels waffle.
Originally, this type of waffle is known as the Brussels waffle and is served plain or with whipped cream and strawberries. The person who brought the waffle to America was Maurice Vermersch. The Vermersch family instead of calling them Brussels waffles, they decided to call them Belgian Waffles.
