Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates – 1 January 2026 — Ras Al Khaimah welcomed 2026 with a breathtaking New Year’s Eve celebration that captivated global audiences and secured a new Guinness World Records™ title for the Largest aerial display of a phoenix formed by multirotors/drones. The landmark event further cemented the emirate’s position as one of the world’s most innovative destinations for large-scale celebrations and experiential tourism.
The 15-minute spectacle combined cutting-edge drone technology with a precisely choreographed fireworks display, transforming Ras Al Khaimah’s waterfront into a stage for one of the most ambitious New Year’s Eve shows ever staged in the UAE. Thousands of spectators gathered across beachfront resorts, public viewing areas, and the official New Year’s Eve Festival to witness the historic moment as the emirate rang in the new year with creativity, emotion, and scale.
At the heart of the celebration was a visually arresting drone performance that turned the night sky into a living canvas. A monumental phoenix, a mythical symbol of rebirth, renewal, and optimism, rose above the coastline in a dazzling aerial formation. The imagery reflected Ras Al Khaimah’s own transformation and future-driven vision as it continues to grow as a leading global tourism destination.
The record-breaking phoenix was formed by 2,300 drones, including 1,000 advanced pyro drones, making it one of the most complex drone displays ever executed. As the phoenix spread its wings, the pyro drones ignited in perfect synchronisation, creating the illusion of flames dancing across the sky. The dramatic visual effect symbolised strength, ambition, and new beginnings—an especially powerful message as the world welcomed 2026.
Following the phoenix formation, the audience was treated to another emotionally resonant drone scene titled “The Welcome.” This formation depicted a human figure emerging from the sea with open arms, representing Ras Al Khaimah’s spirit of hospitality, openness, and warmth toward residents and visitors alike. The sequence reinforced the emirate’s reputation as one of the most welcoming destinations in the Middle East.
As the drone show concluded, anticipation built for the midnight countdown. At the stroke of midnight, a six-kilometre-long fireworks display erupted along Ras Al Khaimah’s coastline, stretching from Marjan Island to Al Hamra. Hundreds of fireworks were launched in perfectly timed waves, cascading along the shore in a spectacular display of colour, sound, and light.
The fireworks choreography was designed to be visible from multiple vantage points, allowing guests at beachfront resorts, residential areas, and public viewing zones to enjoy an immersive New Year’s Eve experience. The scale and precision of the display further reinforced Ras Al Khaimah’s reputation for delivering some of the largest and most memorable fireworks shows in the world.
Beyond the sky-high spectacle, Ras Al Khaimah New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations included live stage performances, entertainment zones, and festive activities at the official New Year’s Eve Festival. The event created a vibrant atmosphere for families, couples, and international visitors celebrating the start of 2026 together.
Earlier in the evening, residents and families also enjoyed an early fireworks display at Corniche Al Qawasim, ensuring that the celebrations were accessible to all segments of the community. This inclusive approach highlighted Ras Al Khaimah’s commitment to creating shared experiences that bring people together.
Commenting on the historic achievement, Phillipa Harrison, CEO of Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA), said:
“New Year’s Eve in Ras Al Khaimah is about bringing people together.
