”Creating visionary landscapes with makeup is an emotional journey through my work. The premise is to inspire beauty in everything”

When did you know, you wanted to be a makeup artist?

As a child I painted the walls of my nursery with all the colored pencils I could find, what drove my parents to madness. My mom, a classical ballet dancer, inspired me to dance as well. Every time, before she went on stage, I was fascinated by her transformation.

I think, this was the moment, where makeup won major importance in my life. I assisted a makeup artist at the opera in Kiel/Germany and there learned it professionally for the first time.

After a while I decided: I have to go to New York, where the best of the world’s work and so I grabbed my two suitcases.

Who are some people that have inspired you throughout your career?

There are so many- such as Salvador Dali, Toulouse Lautrec, Gustav Klimt, the French Graffity artist JR, Roisin Murphy, Keith Haring, Linda Mason, Val Garland, Alex Box, David Lynch, Garreth Pugh, Alexander McQueen, Julien D’Ys and of course Picasso and Rubens.

How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry?

Read my book “geschminkte wahrheit”/edel publisher 2013

How would you describe your signature look and what is it about your style that sets you apart from other makeup artists?

Makeup art is love and passion. All that you can find in my signature. I express myself through colors, feel good, be myself and project this image to the world around me. I guess this is what people like and inspire?

What’s your favorite make up forever product?

Dr. jk cosmeceuticals privée/it is all about one’s skin complexion and natural glow skin

What does beauty mean to you?

Beauty is about seeing something different and thinking, this could be a nice moment to try. Beauty comes from the inside; I am responsible for the outside. but beauty does not mean perfection to me, perfection is boring.

Tell us about your book

Since I was a little girl I love diaries and recorded all my personal work experiences from the start till now. During my career, many celebrities, actresses, models, and assistants always asked me the same questions, why …and how….

That was the reason for answering a majority of questions and explaining secrets in a beauty book. It is about enlightenment, my insight artist’s point of view to inspire others and also a tactile book… personal and human.

Second book?

Books take time, but I am already at it….

Which are the colors for this season?

Corrall, grey and pistachio green, all washed out and no bright colors

What is a no go for this season?

For me, there are no no-goes…. Makeup is as individual as you are. be who you want to be and look at how you want to look. Makeup washes off – not only at the end of the day, so enjoy it.
