Pro Makeup Design Book Launch

We are very excited to announce that Lan Nguyen-Grealis, known to many as the skin alchemist launched last week her Pro-Book and Makeup Collaboration. The exhibition took place during Freize Art Fair in the exclusive Searcys Knightsbridge.

Lan was born in Dublin, Ireland and grew up in Waterford, a town famous for its crystals. She is an incredible makeup artist and the youngest Golden Mask Award winner in 2013.

Lan has contributed to many editorials’ magazines such as Vanity Fair, Russian Vogue, Grazia, Glamour, Elle UK, and Stella. Not to mention that it has built a name at London Fashion Week.

Her first book, Art & Makeup is a spectacular showcase of her work. Her new Book: Pro-Makeup Design Book, is a stunning manifestation of her work and invited the reader to dig deeper into their artistic flair and practice the key looks of Lan.

Pro-Makeup Design Book

This book is divided by technical themes, and different looks to show you how to use color and graphic lines to create stunning results for Fashion shows and photoshoots, as well as how to use embellishments, gloss, and glitter.

With many photographs, this book provides inspiration that includes 30 face charts templates, to give you a guide and advice for creating key looks for celebrities, magazine editorials, advertising campaigns, and fashion shows.

Art, makeup, and culture have always married through Lan’s craft, as she draws from the rich, historical art movements of Baroque, Cubism, Modernism, and Pop and through the diverse forms of painting, sculpture, and the performing arts.

The launch of Pro-Makeup Design Book was a success and was filled with industry guests from designers, makeup artists, photographers and celebrities such as Paloma Faith, Amber Le Bon, and Ella Eyre.

To celebrate the launch of her Pro Makeup Design Book, published by Laurence King, and pro-palette Ultimate Artists Pallet in collaboration with Revolution Pro, the exhibition Confections reflects Lan’s artistic practice of actively mixing history and unexpected materials to create inspired ideas and redefine how we understand makeup.

The exhibition also draws upon the iconic history and site of Searcy’s, named after the royal confectioner. In this way, Confections showcases the artist’s multidimensional talents of mixing and collaborating through photography, sculpture, embroidery and drawing, as well as responding to her environment.

It’s important for Lan that the process of these imaginative, iconic looks are revealed, taught, and understood by many after they are brought to light. In this way, the exhibition shows her intention and love for makeup up to be a tactile, fun, and expressive medium for all.

The Ultimate Artist Palette

”I wanted to create something that was based on what I actually needed to have in my kit, but didn’t exist. I wanted a solution for refreshing makeup whilst being able to be creative at the same time”

Both, the book and the Ultimate Artist Palette go hand by hand, the idea is to promote creativity, and that you can use this palette to create all the different styles alongside the book inspiration and face charts.
