Swimwear Acqua Bazaar
Today I bring you a nice interview we did to Swimwear Acqua Bazaar. The designer Julie was born in Marseilles, in the south of France, At the age of 20 she moves to Paris to continue her studies, and I finally stayed there for 12 years.
She worked as a freelance designer for several brands and when her second child was born, she decided to go back to the south of France. She was missing the seaside and her family.
When did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer?
In fact, I didn’t want to be a fashion designer particularly, but from the day I was able to hold a pen, it was necessary for me to draw… and when I became a woman, I met fashion… 🙂 but there is also a thing about my mother who is a true fashion lover…When I was a little girl I always had beautiful clothes with incredible prints (not classical ones), and I was very shy, so I used to observe these prints in detail at length.
How the idea of Acqua Bazaar start?
In fact, my absolute passion is textile design, patterns creation… And I love special and original bikini
I ‘v mixed the two. Shaken them. And when I opened the box, it was a strange mix of something both very familiar for me and mysterious at the same time. It was as if all my inspirations took life in my brand.
I am a big fan of your work, and I can’t wait for the next collection, what can we expect for the next collection?
Thank you 😉
In fact, our next collection is about Light… The moonlight
I love everything that it can inspire. Silver… Iridescence, phosphorescence… The name of our new collection is simply “Full Moon Party “
As a French designer, what’s it like being in the Fashion industry?
The same as for designers from other countries I think 😉 but for me, it’s important to produce my bikinis in France because I think we still have a true “savoir-faire ” about making clothes.
What do you like about your work?
Freedom overall!
I can go where my mind is going and that is a luxury for me.
What inspires you at the moment you create a bathing suit?
At first, I am thinking about the look… I mean, I am never working in abstraction when designing a bathing suit, I always keep in mind the way it will look on a woman, and then I imagine if I would like to buy it.
But more generally, I ‘m inspired by ethical looks, very flashy colors, gold or shiny ones .. I think I like the look “Indian princess “most of all. In fact… And I try to make bikinis for her.
Tell us about your swimwear last collection, what was your inspiration?
The last one was about the fortune teller, the name was ” La Bonne Aventure “.Inspiration was really about the mix & match, that you can see with gypsies, flowers, gold, black, leopard. Love this! And I wanted to put it in a collection.
It was like Esmeralda is going to the beach.
Tell us about Frida in Formentera?
Frida in Formentera is my first swimwear collection, I wanted to make true utopic travel of Frida Khalo in Formentera, the small Island where I ‘ve spent a big part of my childhood.
It built my artistic references and it’s still a big inspiration for me..the light, the sea, the freedom from there..the hippie spirit of the island and Frida was so inspiring… She could have lived there.
You are successful for many reasons, tell me 3
-I’m kind (I think so ;-), I think it’s important to be nice with all the people you can cross during your life and be a loving person helps you to work well with others.
-I’m very “persevering “, I try until It works.
-I’m open-minded, nothing is forbidden when you create ..I refuse to be conditioned about what is “fashion” and what is not.
What would you recommend for someone who wants to start in the Fashion Business
Be yourself, really yourself …and be patient
