Wiener Opernball

It is Ball season here in Vienna and tomorrow is the famous Vienna Opera Ball. The ball tradition in Vienna goes back to 1814, during the time of the Vienna Congress, where the aristocracy of Europe looked for entertainment after the Napoleonic wars. The first ball celebrate in the Opera house of Vienna took place in 1877, but the first ball to be named Opera Ball was first held in 1935.

Today Vienna is well known for its ball tradition, and this year is not an exception, Mr. Lugner organizes every year the Opera Ball, and every year a famous person come as a special guest. This year we will have Brook Shields, but in the past, we have had Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton, Dita von Teese, Carmen Electra, Sophia Loren, among others.

For the open ceremony in the past, we have had Anna Netrebko, Jose Carreras, Tamar Iveri, between others and this year we will have Placido Domingo and Olga Peretyako.

The official sponsors this year are Casinos Austria, Coca-Cola, Swarovski, Douglas, Guerlain, Pandora, Kissa Tea, Anelia Pschev, Popp & Kretschmer, Schlumberger, Peek & Cloppenburg between others.

The Ball doesn’t start until 10 pm when the Austrian President already enters the imperial balcony. There are performances of the state opera-ballet. The ball is till 6 am in the morning, and you can find on every floor, hairdressers, an in-house tailor, and medical teams.

Nowadays, the Vienna Opera Ball is the most emblematic ball of all here in Vienna, and what best way to celebrate this event, then with the perfect dress.
