Miss Austria 2014

Julia Furdea is a Romanian-Austrian model who represented Austria at the Miss Universe 2014. Julia was crowned as Miss Austria 2014 represented Upper Austria.

Since then, Julia has been working a lot as a model, and today we bring you guys a interview we made her, about her modelling career, to inspire all of you who are thinking to start a modelling career.

Where were you born and what was your pre-model life like?

I was born in Timisoara, Romania and came to Austria when I was 9 month old. I was just a normal kid with a passion for books and dancing. I finished the commercial academy in Linz 2014 with my school leaving examination.

How have you been discovered?

I had to work one week for a work experience for school, and there was a woman, who told me I should start modeling, she thinks I would suit in. So I just sent an application to a model agency in upper Austria and voila, my model career started.

When did you decide to become a model?

When I’ve been discovered I really started to think about being a model.

What has been one of your favorite career experiences so far?

I don’t see ONE job as my favorite experience, I see the whole jobs I had as a massive changing experience to my young life. It really changed my way of seeing things especially commercials. It changed my way to communicate and work with people – in a good way.

But one experience I will never forget was, when I’ve been in Milan for modeling. I really saw the differences between modeling in Austria and modeling international.

Did you have an interest in modelling or fashion before starting as a model?

Actually, I was never interested in modeling before. I just never thought of it. I have a special connection to fashion because my mother is tailoress, she would always make me dresses or pants when I was little. So, fashion for me is, showing your personality in a unique way. I don’t really go with trends, I just wear what I think suits me the best – so I really have a lot of Must-Haves-basics like Jeans, Blazer, Trench coat…
