LET’S TALK ABOUT MAKEUP

LET’S TALK ABOUT MAKEUP

Makeup Tips

Today's post is dedicated to Make up; the world of makeup is huge and full of possibilities, but the first thing you need to know is how to pick up your cosmetics.

It is important to have the right cosmetics for any skin type; the idea is to create a fresh natural appearance, but you don’t want to have any allergy reaction, rashes or skin eruptions.

  • The first thing to do is to identify which skin type you have, so you can pick the perfect make-up.
  • The second thing you have to know is that you have to avoid cosmetics that dry your skin.
  • The third thing you need to know at the moment to pick up your cosmetics is the skin tone you have, choosing the wrong color, too light or too dark will make your makeup-less attractive.

Invest in quality makeup

Quality makeup is often expensive, but it will reflect on your skin. Cheap makeup can give you a plastic look and is difficult to blend with your natural skin. Look for good quality makeup that isn’t necessarily too expensive. It's always better to invest in yourself in a few good quality makeups rather than have a bathroom, full of cheap makeup that it will not last, and it will make you look like a clown.

Dry Skin

If you suffer from dry skin, don’t despair. The best for you will be to look for a mousse or crème type foundation. If you use concealer, be sure it is cream base, and your compact powder should be pressed compact powder. Avoid loose powder or oil-free formulas, they will settle in the lines of your face. For the eye makeup, you can choose a silk-textured powder or crème eyes shadows and eyeliner should be either a shimmer pencil or a matte type. Find a moisturizing is lipstick especially if they have vitamin E.

Sensitive Skin

For this type of skin, you can find label products specifically for you and try always to avoid fragrances in your cosmetics. A better option is always Non-allergic brands, like Clinique.

Combination Skin

You can mix different products, for the different types of skin conditions on your face or you can choose products, which are specifically for combination skin.

Oily Skin

Try always to choose oil-free products, and apply a matte type foundation, loose powder has less oil than pressed powder. Avoid crèmes for eye shadow or mascara and creamy lipstick.

Now that we pick up our makeup let's talk about how to make up ourselves for any occasion. It is important that you avoid wearing too much makeup.

Makeup supposed to enhance your face, not to bring negative attention to you. Try to avoid too much eyeliner; thick eyeliner will ruin your makeup, also if you wear too much mascara. About the foundation, make sure it is the same skin tone of yours, and it is important that you blend it well. And about the powder is the same principle, it has to have the same color as your skin, and it is important that you blend it well.

Lips

Apply lip liner to cover your lips, add color and your lipstick will stay longer, I personally like to put on the top of my lips and a little bit of white eyeliner, to give my lips more proportion, because I have small lips. Also, it is important that your lip liner doesn’t show, and your lipstick has to match your skin tone.

Occasion

It is important to wear the right makeup for each occasion if you are going to the beach you should not use the same makeup if you are going to a cocktail party, I personally like to have an effortless makeup, a little bit darker for the night, but just because I like really natural look.

HISTORY OF PERFUMES

HISTORY OF PERFUMES

History of Perfumes

People have always wanted to smell good, and despite the hygiene standards have changed over the centuries (Queen Isabella of Spain, boast that she only had 2 baths in her entire life), the perfume was developed.

But what exactly is perfume?

The word perfume, comes from the Latin phrase per fumus, meaning through smoke, and the first perfumes were the smokes given off by burning incense.

Incense is one of the oldest inventions; more than 3500 years ago, and it was used to scent the air, and it was a luxury product used by the wealthy people and the priest for the religious rituals.

It was really difficult to produce Incense, and that's the reason why it was a luxury product at that time, but incense and perfume are made from plant products mix them with oils and wine, in order to create various combinations.

The ancient Egyptians used different oils and flower extracts on themselves, and perfuming was part of bathing, and bathing was frequent. The Egyptians also paid attention to the bottles; they used to keep perfumes.

And this perfume culture extends to the Greeks and Romans, who didn’t use incense, but they took the practice of using scented oils.

Arabs traders introduce the essential oils to Europe in the Renaissance period; perfumes quickly became popular throughout Europe.

One of the most distinguished brand names in the perfume world is Chanel, she wished for women to wear perfumes that gave them a sense of independence and of belonging to an important part of the culture.

Over the years, this specific perfume is till today a symbol of elegance and status, this perfume is used today by many celebrities including Hollywood’s beautiful actress and models, which contribute to the fame and glamour connected with such a name of which Chanel Number 5 is connected.

The idea Of Chanel N°5 came from Ernest Beaux, with a mix of ylang-ylang, neroli, jasmine, and roses. An interesting fact is that nobody (outside of the company) knows the exact formula and is not a secret that every 30 seconds a bottle of Channel N° 5 is sold around the world.

SHANKS SHOES

SHANKS SHOES

MQ Vienna Fashion Week - Shanks

One of the designers we discover during MQ Vienna Fashion Week was Shanks-Shoes. This amazing designer develops a special concept for her shoes, I have never seen before; we make her an interview to discover more about her ideas, and her shoes, and why her shoes are so special, and why you should have a pair!

When did you decide to become a designer?

I never decided to become a designer. It just happened. I guess it started when I had an idea for creating my Heel Caps, and my very first prototype was finished. I realized it will work and that this idea is too good to let go of.

What makes your shoes special?

  • My Shanks High Heels are very comfortable and made for walking
  • The 3cm hidden platform makes it possible to walk on a 12 cm high heel with no pain.
  • The platform in combination with the perfect fit (enough space for your toes and therefore no footpad burns) and the soft leather make my High Heel everybody’s favorite.
  • Our platform-pump is a classic, fitting every outfit, regardless if you wear jeans, business wear or an evening dress.
  • I try to give every woman the opportunity to show off her legs and give security with the non-slip sole, combined with the padded leather insole.

How did you develop the concept?

It was my own desperation with uncomfortable high heels and the never-ending story of slipping out of my shoes.

I needed a solution to tie the shoe on to my foot. This was the impulse to create my Heel Caps which are leather covers for the rear quarter of your high heel. The exchangeable Heel Caps and leather bands offer security and even more fashion freedom! With many different colors and patterns to choose from, you can now easily accessorize your shoes to match your outfit.

How was the process of becoming a designer?

The process was interesting and exciting, but still difficult. It was very hard to find a leather production company in Austria which was able to refine the construction and functionality of my Heel Caps together with me. Besides that, it was extremely important for me to have them produced in Austria. But I made it and every pair has been handmade with extraordinary diligence.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the thought of changeability. Every woman should have the chance to adapt to the fast-changing fashion trends and to manage that with little money. I want to give every woman the chance to be part of the fast-moving, versatile fashion world. I have a product range for the brisk, fashion-conscious woman of today.

What was the inspiration for your last collection?

After creating the perfect comfortable high heel and my unique Heel Caps, I wanted to take the next step. I asked myself „What do women need to change her fashion appearance without changing her clothes“ So I designed my changeable handbags and renewed the idea of chaps to give the possibility to make my Shanks High Heel into a trendy winter boot.

Once again, my handbags and bootlegs are handmade in Austria and give you a quick and simple possibility to change your fashion style

MY BEAUTY ROUTINE

MY BEAUTY ROUTINE

Beauty is an essence, looking beautiful for me means having the healthiest and comfort of life. Looking beautiful means get noticed, be healthy and simply taking care of us.

For me is important to dedicate myself, to dedicate time, to take care of hair, of skin, simply be feminine. Despite the fact, I am not a person who wears too much makeup… I always go for a natural look; I must say that my skin is not complicated at all, and my beauty routine, is simple.

I try to drink 2,5 liters of water per day because I need to be hydrated, and the most important for beautiful skin is to be hydrated and eat healthily.

At the moment to pick my beauty products I really take the time, and I must say I have to try different products till I could arrive at the right products.

One of my favorite products for the face is Clinique; in the morning when I wake up I wash my face with Clinique Liquid facial soap, after that I use the Clarifying lotion, the dramatically Different Moisturizing lotion and its all about eyes cream, after that routine, I apply Yves Rocher Hydratant Dermo-Apaisant Jour. This routine I repeat it at night before I go to sleep.

Living in a country wherein winter the Sun rarely came out… I like to put in the night extra Glam Bronze spray in the face, I let fry and then I go to bed, which gives me a little golden color in my face I always have in summer.

To my skin extra soft, I put in the shower baby oil on my skin, the baby oil makes my skin extremely soft, and before I get dressed I always use Victoria Secret body lotion, they have a special smell that I really love and they last the whole day… and of course, the splash is part of this after-shower ritual.

I like to smell good… and the Victoria Secret body lotion together with the splash do the trick for me and even make my clothes smell amazing.

This is basically the moment I take just for me, it doesn’t matter if I have a lazy day or a stressful day, this is the moment the world stop spinning, and where the most important person is me!
