MAXWELL SCOTT MARKETING DIRECTOR JULIA MUNDER

MAXWELL SCOTT MARKETING DIRECTOR JULIA MUNDER

Marketing Director Julia Munder

Julia Munder is the marketing director of Maxwell Scott, she is originally from Stuttgart Germany, and she is been living in York and working for Maxwell Scott for the last 8 years. Julia studied English, German and Intercultural Communications at Saarland University in Saarbrücken and she did her Masters in International Communications at the University of Leeds. Before joining Maxwell-Scott, she worked in theatre and TV. She worked for the Staatstheater in Stuttgart and Saarbrücken, she did a short stint at the ZDF and later joined the Ambassador Theatre Group in the UK.

Completely changing field and go into fashion and digital was definitely a new challenge for her. We talked to Julia about her career, and asked her a few questions about her experience at Maxwell Scott.

Is there any previous knowledge that you need to have in order to work in the Marketing & PR area or can anyone who has a talent for it do so?

I think it's most important to have an interest in and talent for writing and communications combined with analytical thinking. Most of what we do in PR & Marketing is text-based, so good writing skills are definitely essential.

Also, you need to like speaking to people and be outgoing since it's a massive part of the job. Analytical thinking is something you can learn on the job. However, at some point in your career, you need to understand the data and numbers behind the campaigns to know what content is working.

Did you always know exactly what you are good at and that Marketing & PR is exactly your thing?

I knew I was good at languages, international communication, and writing. However, looking at my background, I never thought of using all these skills and work internationally in the fashion industry. It just didn't occur to me until I started working for Maxwell-Scott. A big part of my job now is numbers, data and a lot of technical tasks. Something that I never thought I'd be good at. However, understanding the "behind the scenes" makes me a much better marketer in a creative sense as well. Also, I am much more commercially aware than I was before which is obviously super important for business too.

What are your daily tasks or what does a typical working day look like as marketing director at Maxwell Scott

There is no typical day which is the fun thing about it. I'm involved in all marketing activity which means that I'm often setting myself hourly tasks to get everything done. In the morning, I will hold meetings or check-in with the team and in the afternoon I plan ahead for the new season or analyze what campaigns are currently working or aren't performing as well, plan photoshoots or whatever else needs doing. I also work with the PPC team and am currently learning the Facebook advertising platform. I'd like to think that I'm still quite hands-on because I need to understand things myself first before I can brief and help everyone else.

What do you like most about your job?

That it's combining all my strengths and that no day is the same. Plus, I'm still a girl at heart, so the occasional glitz and glam.

What is it like to work for a fashion company and to be surrounded by beautiful things every day?

Not as glamorous as you might think but it definitely has it's perks. From my experience in theatre, film, TV and now fashion I can definitely say that everything that looks fantastic and easy is a lot of hard work. Everyone successful that I have met in the industry is extremely hard working and smart.

What do you see as the greatest challenge in your job?

Managing people. I have to be stricter in the office than I would be if you'd meet me for a coffee. The balance between work and home persona isn't always easy.

What can you advise other girls and young women who are looking for a career in Marketing & PR?

Work hard, learn more than everyone else and take every opportunity to gain experience and proof yourself. For people trying to get promoted or a pay rise, I'd say "Do the job first and then ask for the appropriate remuneration". When you've proven yourself first, nobody can argue your worth.

What is your favorite Bag?

Can I only pick one? Cento work bag - I carry my life in this bag. And the Perano chain bag for evening outfits.

PERFECT BANANA CAKE RECIPE

PERFECT BANANA CAKE RECIPE

Perfect Banana Cake Recipe

This is the perfect delicious Banana cake recipe with yogurt frosting. This recipe is incredibly moist and is the perfect way to use overripe bananas and  it is very easy to do.

Although this is a very simple cake, this banana cake is truly nice for those who love bananas as much as we do, and more important is very easy to make.

Normally I always follow the same steps for this kind of cakes, at the end, I mix the flour and the milk by hand because it gives the dough with a bit of air and then the cake can grow nicely, and for me, it has a better consistency as I will mix everything with the mixer.

An evening with Yury Revich & Friends

Tuesday, February 25, 2020, 8:00 p.m. (Doors open: 7:30 p.m.) Odeon Theater, Vienna

Tickets are available at OnepointFM

In addition to his successful international music career, the Austrian-Russian violinist Yury Revich is passionately committed to numerous charitable and philanthropic purposes. Together with Mia Papaefthimiou, he launched Friday Nights with Yury Revich in 2015.

The international concert format creates a transdisciplinary narrative framework and combines different art forms from music to dance, applied art to theater and fashion to form a “Concert of Arts”. With the respective concept, it raises awareness of human rights, freedom of expression, autism, breast cancer, and climate change.

In 2011 he was a co-organizer of a concert in Vienna for the victims of the Japanese tsunami and in 2015 organized the first Austrian charity gala "All for Autism", which has since become one of the largest events for education about autism in Europe.

said Yury Revich about his commitment.

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER TATIANA KURNOSOVA

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHER TATIANA KURNOSOVA

Fashion Photographer Tatiana Kurnosova

Tatiana Kurnosova is a fashion photographer, stylist and blogger with almost 10 years working experience in fashion industry.

Tatiana’s career has begun since her first trip to Milan. Since then she has never stopped going forward and growing as an artist.

Multiple awards – winner, published photographer and author of “All you need to know about model test shoots. The ultimate guide for fashion models, fashion photographers and aspiring stylists” book, Tatiana is currently sharing her knowledge about fashion photography and modeling on her YouTube channel.

Tatiana’s photography style is a mix of sensuality and simplicity, dramatic and minimalistic, with a tint of Asian scent.

Tell us about yourself when did you know you wanted to be a photographer?

My name is Tatiana Kurnosova, I’m a fashion photographer, stylist and blogger. I’ve been working in fashion industry for about 10 years. I’ve never planned on becoming a fashion photographer, I guess it just happened organically.

I fell in love with photography when I was in Japan. I was so inspired by everything around me, so I couldn’t stop capturing it through my camera.

Now I have a YouTube channel about fashion photography and modeling, where I’m sharing my knowledge, I travel a lot and really enjoy everything I do.

What is most important at the moment you take a picture?

Knowing what you need to get as a result. Whether you’re working for a client or doing a personal project it’s really important to know what your goal is and also paying attention to the details. In fashion we need to capture the clothes, accessories or cosmetics and everything should look perfect, so the customer would want to buy it.

From where you get your inspiration

I was always inspired by Asian art and culture. Japanese woodblock prints, classic Chinese paintings, Korean traditional costumes… All of it can give me a boost of inspiration and desire to create.

I also get inspired by beauty of the models, especially when it comes to my personal projects.

How do you look for the perfect spots?

First I think of the shoot’s concept and decide whether it would be best to work in the studio or on location. If I choose the studio, then I simply choose it based on the pictures or the spaces I’ve worked in before.

When it comes to locations, I prefer just walking around for few hours and scout the location. Eventually I find the nice sports quite easily. If my shoot is going to be in another country, I first try to look at the options on the map or photos, then when I arrive I go see everything by myself before the shoot.

Describe a typical shoot.

First I briefly discuss the shoot idea with the client. When I come to understand what they need as a result, I create a mood board for my team, so we would all be aware of the concept. After the models being booked, we meet on the set and do our jobs. Fashion photography is truly teamwork and I’m so happy that I’m able to work with so many talented people.

Were you educated in photography, or are you self taught?

I am self-taught and have never studied photography, but I have a degree in Architecture and Interior design, so I’ve studied such subjects as color theory, academic painting, and drawing, history of art, composition and etc. I think it has really helped me to develop my vision, taste in art and photography style.

What camera do you use most of the time?

I still use my old Canon 5D Mark II. Thinking of upgrading my gear though

Which photo are you currently most proud of?

I can’t choose only one… And honestly, I’m never happy with my photos. I guess being so critical to myself and my work is what keeps me going forward and being passionate about learning something new.

I can only say that I love one of my recent editorials called “The Ghost Inside” and the close-up portrait of a Sandra @ FL Model Management. I love everything dramatic and “a little bit broken” and this picture on one side shows the perfect beauty and on the other side some kind of tragedy. And still, it sells the products that is the main goal of fashion photography. I think being able to both tell a story and make the pictures commercially successful is really important.

Comparing where you are now with where you are when you first started, what could you have done differently to get to where you are sooner?

I don’t think I would change anything. What I’ve been through, what I’ve learned through the years is what makes me who I am right now. My experience, my emotions, my thoughts… It is what helps me create, what makes my photography style unique and it is what my clients want to see. They work with me because of my vision, my personality. If I’ll change my past it will seem like cutting off a part of who I am. We all have our stories, the ones we need to tell and live it through.

Favorite photography book?

My own book which I’m really proud of. It called “All you need to know about the model test shoots”. When I’ve started photographing I had no idea about this industry. I wish someone would have told me everything I say in this book. It is the ultimate guide for fashion models, fashion photographers and aspiring stylists and everyone who’s simply interested in modeling and fashion. Both digital and paperback is available on Amazon and I will be really happy if you guys will check it out. I promise you won’t be disappointed

VALENTINES DAY WISH LIST

VALENTINES DAY WISH LIST

Valentines Day

Valentines Day is around the corner! so I wanted to put together a little wish list for you guys. Valentines day in Europe is not that popular like in Venezuela, or the even United States, never the less I like to take this opportunity to do something romantic with my hubby. Nowadays we are both so busy, he at work, and I also working on many projects at the same time, that sometimes we forgot to do something special out of our routine.

I always like to try new things and new places especially since we are living in Vienna, where we have so many little tiny and special places, that we like to try them out.

Valentine is the perfect occasion to search for a special restaurant, and plan a romantic date, but I still don't know in which direction I would like to go this year. I normally prefer Italian food, but this time maybe we can try Japanese? I still don’t know! But let’s see!

This valentines I have a little surprise prepared for my special guy this Friday, and let's see what surprise he will have for me! Nevertheless, I am really excited!!!

For this year's wish list! I have prepared some little special gift, and I hope you like them!

Wish List

For starters how cute is this Maxi dress??, for me was love at first sight, especially because is easy to combine and perfect for summer too.

Lately, I am crazy about fuchsia lips, I am not the type of strong makeup, but I do like to have a little touch of my lips. Looking for the perfect Fuchsia, I came across this Artdeco Lipstick in 496 true fuchsias.

Now, with the weather changing every day, what the best way to keep warm than with this cute Teddy bear coat.

What would be valentine’s day without the proper nail lack? that’s why I pick up from Dior this cute pink color.

Also, I love the eyeshadows of Dior, and one of the favorites is Diorshow mono in 554 minimalisms.

Nevertheless, and because there are not too many handbags in the closet, I pick this little cute black handbag from Moschino in black to combine it with my outfit!

And last but not least Asos ballerina with a nice black ribbon in beige.

I hope you like it!
