The first iteration of Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty was at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York in 2011 which was curated by Andrew Bolton at the Costume Institute and became one of the Met’s 10 most visited exhibitions.

London was the epicenter of McQueen's reality. The child of a taxi-driver, he grew up in the city's East End and left school at 15 to become a tailor’s apprentice on Savile Row in Mayfair. In 1990, he joined the prestigious MA Fashion course at Central Saint Martins. Now a very capable and innovative tailor, where he became a style originator, drawing motivation from London's history, its world-class museums, and the rising 'British craftsmanship' scene.

Working with little money and a close circle of collaborator she delivered a succession of enchanting and provocative shows set in, locations across the capital. He reviewed, There was such a great amount of suppression in London design. It must be livened up.

''I have been able to interview him many times which was an utter honor, he was one of the most talented designers that I knew and miss him greatly''.
''It was extraordinary how shy and humble he was, he did not like people looking at him and would prefer to do interviews over the phone where he became excited to tell me about his references that where always very personal''.

Marko Matysik

For me, it was like a big dream that came true…

I was lucky enough to get into the team of Guido Palau so I could be present at the show in London, and it will also never forget it was one of my first shows ever, and then at the same time one of Alexander McQueen Shows…

I was in heaven; to have the opportunity to meet models like Kate Moss…

What a spectacle Models cut to their feet with shellfish clothes and scandal there was also because of the butterflies at the end of the show

But what am I talking about, look yourself...

never forget you

"When I worked in the make-up team for some of Alexander Mc Queen’s fashion shows, he said to us.
It’s a new era in fashion - there are no rules. It’s all about the individual and personal style wearing all high-end and low-end designers together.
I am a big fan of his and think, he was The-One-Of, we will never forget”

Yasmin Heinz

“I used to have a recurring nightmare where the world was black and white, dull and flat. As I began my millinery career, my head was full of outlandish ideas. But initially, I thought that I would have to be very reserved. When I first came across images of Alexander McQueen’s work it was similar to an “Eureka”  experience. It was as if I was being given the green light to go ahead and express myself and bugger off to the boundaries of restriction. Be true to yourself and go for it. Not only was I fortunate to have such a ground-breaking designer as my ice breaker, but I was living in London, a dynamic city, a far cry from my roots.”

INTERVIEW WITH MARCOS VALENZUELA TIBERIUS

INTERVIEW WITH MARCOS VALENZUELA TIBERIUS

Designer Marcos Valenzuela Vienna

Marcos Valenzuela was born in Colombia, Marco dreamed of becoming an Opera Singer, but everything changes when he met the love of his life and transform Tiberius into a successful Fashion House.

His first experience with fashion, he had it with 17 years old, He studied Fashion Design and parallel he also studied Dance and singing. He realized he didn’t want to do fashion anymore but to be on the stage.

A friend invited him to visit the Vienna  Conservatory, and he continues with his music and dance studies, till he met the love of his life, who is the owner of Tiberius and Marco transforms the fetish-shop into a Fashion label.

We met Marcos and spoke with him about his creative process in Tiberius and how this romantic story began.

For those who don’t know you, talk about your background.

Born in Bogota-Colombia, based in Vienna since 1999. I´m a fashion designer, an opera singer, and a dancer. For 11 years I’ve been the creative mind behind Tiberius.

When did you know you wanted to be a fashion designer?

My passion for fashion came quite early… I come from the generation influenced by MTV, beauty pageants (a Typical for a Latino) and obviously the amazing Barbie… my first muse.

What's it like being in the Fashion industry?

It is like a ride in a roller-coaster… You know that you love that kick, the adrenaline, and the emotions… During the ride, there are moments with high and lows, unexpected turns, the moment you ask yourself...WHY did I choose to ride this ride??!? But in general, the movement and risk making you feel alive.

What was your first job in the fashion industry?

Oooooooh, dear…  Designing Prom dresses for some girls from my generation… ages ago!

Talk about the changes in your life since you’ve taken as a designer in Tiberius.

The biggest change and by the way the most difficult change is leaving my life on stage.  I couldn’t imagine that being a designer takes so much time. My days start at 5 am and end at 10 pm. I actually enjoy each second of my life and everything I do for my label.

Describe what do you do in your work?

I create, organize, plan, communicate, work with my hands and enjoy taking care of my clients. I will say I’m an all-rounder at Tiberius.  And above all, I have fun at work!

What do you like about your work?

I believe Fashion is communication… Fashion is the possibility of communicating worldwide with clothing, accessories, colors, and textures… this is something love of being a designer. I’m blessed for having a job where I can observe and give a statement. To express my feelings not using words but using this amazing language, Fashion.

What advice would you pass along to those starting out in the Fashion Business?

Your product should be honest and authentic. Take time to discover who you are…but try not to hear with your ego, but with your heart.

What inspires you?

Inspiration is a moment, an impulse: therefore here are some things that give me energy and pleasure:  dark chocolate, music, a long run, and a good chat, flirting and a magical smile.

How do you see Fashion in Austria?

I see fashion in Austria with respect and gratitude, I feel extremely happy not being born in Austria and being considered as an Austrian designer.  As a businessman, I see a lot of potential in the market.

Is there a big difference between Colombia and Austria?

In my opinion Yes and No. Yes because the socio-political, historical and geographic situation influences a country and its people. No, because the expectations and individual ground necessities from all human beings are all the same all around the world.

What defines Tiberius?

Tiberius is sensual and desirous, ironic, provocative and a little bit romantic.

How is your creative process?

I am a structured person. I start with the Theme. Then I study, I try to get information to create the basis of the collection. Then when my head is full of information, I draw and then my team and I, we start to experiment in the pattering and texturing till reach our goal.

Which word describes better your clients?

Tiberius Clients are sensual and desirous, ironic, provocative and a little bit romantic individuals. They love details and quality.

How do you describe yourself?

I`m a positive, disciplined, happy romantic person, who enjoys details, laughter and chocolate muffins.

In which project are you currently working on it?

Can’t tell is a secret! Hihihi!

YASMIN HEINZ IN VIENNA

YASMIN HEINZ IN VIENNA

Vienna is Calling - Yasmin Heinz Makeup Artist

The Yasmin Heinz was Head-Of Makeup and one of the jury members during the Miss Vienna Election in April 2015 and we had the unique opportunity to pick her up from  "Motel One” in Vienna producing our video about this special day with Yasmin Heinz.

Yasmin Heinz was born in a little village in Northern Germany. As a youngster, Yasmin dreamed of becoming a fine artist and today she is the most recognized and wanted German Make-Up Artist worldwide.

During her studies in New York, she met Linda Mason (the internationally-renowned make-up-artist), and her obsession for make-up began.

Working alongside Linda Mason Yasmin's exceptional ability to combine colors with her skills in fine art was soon realized. Before long she was taken on by an established New York agency and became a make-up artist in her own right.

During her work in Paris, where Yasmin Heinz moved to after having established her name in New York, she then joined Pat Mc Grath's prestigious international make-up team and collaborated with her on a variety of fashion shows such as Christian Dior, John Galliano, Louis Vuitton, and Victor & Rolf.

Yasmin has also headed fashion show make-up teams on her own and has created looks for such as Azzedine Alaia,  Claude Montana, Jean Paul Gaultier, Michael Michalsky, Sonja Rykiel, Thierry Mugler, Vivien Westwood/Red Label amongst so many others.

In 2007 Yasmin Heinz moved on to the place to be - the most inspiring and creative London - and has since then captured the attention of international photographers, designers, and celebrities, who call on her being inspired by her and her skills.

She is currently working on her second English coffee table beauty book, which will be published around the end of 2016.

In her spare free time, Yasmin enjoys trend forecasting and organizing her own make-up workshops worldwide.

Having the opportunity to spend a whole day with Yasmin Heinz and see her in action was an extraordinary challenge for us. She created the make-up of the contestants with products of SISLEY Paris and skincare products Dr. JK Cosméceuticals Privée.

The concept behind was to embrace the natural beauty of the contestants using a personal natural look to each one of them.

Marko Matysik/London, Contributing Global Beauty Editor for Vogue International and Condé Nast Publications, was also part of the jury during the Miss Vienna Event and he accompanied Yasmin besides her german agent Maurice from Kult Artists Agency.

This event gave Yasmin also the opportunity to promote her first beauty book "Geschminkte Wahrheit"/Edel Germany Publisher as well. This beautiful book explores the secrets and tricks of the trade, and the day-to-day work of The-Yasmin-Heinz, an international emerged make-up artist.

"During my career, many celebrities, actresses, models, and assistants always asked me the same questions, why?... and ... how?..."

Creating this book enabled me to answer the fundamental questions through my extensive archive of experience.”

Yasmin Heinzxx

Each themed chapter explores the skin canvas with color combinations, from the natural to the avant-garde. The veiled truth of men in makeup and the beauty of mature skin are encapsulated with beautiful timeless imagery.
