INTERNATIONAL HAIRSTYLIST DENIS PERANI

INTERNATIONAL HAIRSTYLIST DENIS PERANI

Hairstylist Denis Perani

Denis Perani, is a German hairstylist I had the opportunity to met in the Flair Beauty Academy in September 2019.  After speaking with him, I discovered that his story was one I did not expect. For starters, he didn’t begin wanting to be a hairstylist, but life works in mysterious ways. Because he comes from Berchtesgaden in Bayern, a small town in Germany, he never really thought about the hairstyle world.

Denis’ story starts with his model friend who he used to style her hair just for fun. Without Denis‘ knowledge, she prepared his Resume and brought it to a Hair salon and asked him to come together to the salon with her. Denis didn’t know anything about the appointment her friend made for him, thinking he was just there to support her.  In actuality, she had secured a job interview for him, where he was, in turn, granted an internship.

After his internship, he started his career as a Hairstylist in Salzburg, where he prepared himself at Sturmayr Coiffeure, an International Hair salon with over 100 years and runs already for over 6 generations.

"During my apprenticeship, I was crazy about hairdressing competitions, I always wanted to be there as an assistant and when I had the chance to participate, I was honored to win the first prize."

Awards:

5 x nominated for the Schwarzkopf Hairdressing Award

5 x 1st place in the Sturmayr Award

3 x 1st place as the best young hairdresser in Austria

3rd place at the World Finals of the Wella Trend Vision Awards 2010 in Paris

One of the things that fascinated me the most about Denis is his passion and his positive energy. He has worked hard to attain his status, and his recipe for success is Training, Training, Training. He remembers, that when afforded a rare free day away from his preparation as a hair stylist, he would still use the time to continue perfecting his skills.

Nowadays, we can find a lot of information on the internet, and he recommends not copying anyone, but to try to understand always what is behind the style. If you want to be on the top of your game you have to understand every movement, every detail. Maybe you go to 10 different hair Fairs, and probably 90% of the things you already know, but there is still the potential that the 10% of what is being taught is new for you. In summary, you have to be open to learn new things.

Denis had the opportunity to meet Wendy Iles, in her exhibition booth in Düsseldorf, and after repeatedly walking around her booth, he finally got the courage to talk to her, and he immediately connected with her, not just because her products are great, but also because she is an amazing, warm and talented artist.

The challenges

Denis thinks that one of the biggest challenges nowadays is to stay down to earth and finds that a lot of people lose themselves focusing in things that are not important. Personally, one of the things that surprised me the most about Denis, is how natural and humble he is.

Denis has built a successful career, and it’s because he keeps challenging himself, and learning from mistakes. He is not afraid to ask questions and more importantly, he maintains his own signature style.

FIND THE PERFECT FOUNDATION

FIND THE PERFECT FOUNDATION

Choosing the perfect Foundation

Whether you are going for a natural daywear look, or a glammed-up evening look, having an evenly toned skin base is the first step. Finding a suitable foundation is not always as easy as it first sounds, with such a vast array of colors and different types of foundation available on the high street. However, taking the time to assess your skin and various factors regarding your foundation choice are imperative to create that healthy skin glow we’re all craving.

Foundation is a necessary part of any make-up kit and making sure that you choose a foundation that fits your skin type is one of the most important factors to consider. Other issues regarding the color mean bearing your skin tone and hair color in mind. Your age may be a factor worth considering when deciding whether or not to get one formulated with anti-aging in mind. Finally, the ultimate look that you want to achieve may impact the choice of foundation that you use, since a natural look may require one foundation whereas an edgier, more striking high-fashion look may require something very different.

Assessing your skin type

Skin type is determined by genetics but a host of internal and external influences can have an impact. The most common skin types are oily, normal, dry and combination. Knowing which you have will affect your choice of foundation so assessing your skin is a preliminary must.

Normal skin is generally well balanced, being neither too oily or too dry. Dry skin, on the other hand, can feel tight and rough and look dull. Unlike dry skin, oily skin means a lot of sebum is produced, resulting in visible pores and a glossy shine to the skin. Liquid foundations should probably be avoided for those with oily skin types as it emphasizes the shine. With combination skin, as the name suggests, there is a mixture of skin types, varying between the T-zone and across the cheeks. In this case, if some parts are slightly oily and some parts are slightly dry, a powder-based foundation may be advisable since they provide excellent coverage across both those issues.

Types of foundation

Having taken your skin texture into consideration, the next thought should be on what texture and finish you prefer. For example, for those with oily skin, a powder foundation can give a great matte finish. Liquid foundations can be used on most other skin types apart from oily and can also provide either a matte or a more dewy finish. Mousse foundations are becoming increasingly popular as they offer a light-weight option and the end result is luminescent, making the light bounce off your skin.

Finding the right one for you may involve a lot of trial and error. Trying out different types to what looks best of your skin will help to assess what you feel best using but also varying your method of application will provide different results. Application with your fingers or a brush will allow you to blend for a natural look while using a sponge will create a more perfect, flawless finish. Your mood and the occasion will also be influential in the look you want to achieve but having the confidence to know that you can change it up, starting with your foundation, is the perfect foundation.

PERFECT WAFFLES RECIPE

PERFECT WAFFLES RECIPE

Waffles Recipe

Waffles are the best way to start a Sunday morning, and let’s face it, they are crispy, they are delicious and more important they are easy to make. You can eat your waffles alone, with some maple syrup, strawberries or just bananas, either way, Waffles are a fantastic way to start a lazy Sunday.

After a week of hard work, hard training, there is not a best way to have a cheat day than with a cheat breakfast. Because as you can understand, this waffle recipe is not a light, or low sugar or low carb recipe. This waffle recipe, is in fact so crispy because of the amount of butter, and they are sweet because I add sugar, and of course a lot of mix berries with maple syrup.

After trying many recipes, looking for the perfect crispy waffles, I found that the amount of butter was important, also I didn’t use either yeast or baking soda because I like my waffle crispier, but you can also add a half of spoon of baking soda to make this recipe a bit fluffy.

Of course, you can use brown sugar instead of white sugar, or you can add cinnamon instead of vanilla. The idea with this basic recipe is for you to change it as you want to develop your own recipe.

It is important also to not over mix the batter, and this batter is very thick so try to distribute it well.

Can I freeze my Waffles?

With this recipe yes! You can make a bunch and froze them for another day.

What’s the difference between normal waffles and Belgian Waffles?

Normally, Belgian waffles are made with yeast but you can also use baking soda instead. They are normally eating at breakfast, and you can put any topping you want. In Belgium, you can find the Liege Waffle and the Brussels waffle.

What is the origin of the Belgian Waffle?

Originally, this type of waffle is known as the Brussels waffle and is served plain or with whipped cream and strawberries. The person who brought the waffle to America was Maurice Vermersch. The Vermersch family instead of calling them Brussels waffles, they decided to call them Belgian Waffles.

Equipment

  • Waffles maker
  • Electric Mixer

Ingredients

  • 160 grams butter
  • 120 grams sugar
  • 320 grams flour
  • 80 ml milk
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp vanilla
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

  • Into a large bowl mix with an electric mixer the sugar, the salt and the eggs for 10 min approx.
  • Melt the butter and add it to the first mixture
  • Now it is time to add the milk and flour, and what I normally do is to add the first 2 spoons of flour and then 2 spoons of milk and so on. It is important though, to combine very gently the flour, fold in and please do not stir… Like this, you will create air on the batter which makes it fluffy.
  • Spray the waffle maker with a bit of oil and pour 1/3 cup into the waffle maker and cook it till you have a nice golden waffle.

Notes

You can add 1/2 tbsp baking soda if you want your waffles to be more fluffy, or you can add brown sugar instead of white sugar for a deeper taste.

With many photographs, this book provides inspiration that includes 30 face charts templates, to give you a guide and advice for creating key looks for celebrities, magazine editorials, advertising campaigns, and fashion shows.

It’s important for Lan that the process of these imaginative, iconic looks are revealed, taught, and understood by many after they are brought to light. In this way, the exhibition shows her intention and love for makeup up to be a tactile, fun, and expressive medium for all.
