MEXICAN ACTRESS AND SINGER SOFIA ESPINOSA

Mexican Actress Sofia Espinosa

Sofia Espinosa is a Mexican actress, and producer. She is well known for her roles in El Brassier de Emma, The Kid: Chamaco, I Miss You, Vete Más Lejos, Alicia, Gloria and most recent Apapacho. She started taking acting classes since she was 13, and she has built her career as an actress since them. We talk to Sofia about her career, her dreams, and her next steps.

When did you decide to become an actress?

I grew up in a family full of theater and music. I started taking acting classes when I was 13 years old, I had great teachers and enjoyed a lot how playful it was to act. Then I made my first movie at 15 and after that, I just wanted to keep on doing that.

You studied in many international drama schools, how did they shape your career as a Mexican Actress?

As I started at a young age, I had the chance to experiment in different drama schools. I started in Mexico City in “Casa azul”; then I went to a great workshop in London that made me fall in love with Shakespeare and English theater.

After that, I studied 2 years in Buenos Aires and that opened my mind completely, I felt everything was possible. I also saw a lot of great actors perform. Actors there keep training all their lives, and I believe that to continue learning and questioning yourself is always important. There is no time to stop learning.

Every time I have the chance, I try to take workshops in Mexico or somewhere else. I really enjoy doing that.

When did you first perform?

My first movie was “The girl in the Stone”, directed by Maryse Sistach, a great Mexican filmmaker. I was 15 years old.

Which was the most challenging role you have played as a Mexican Actress?

I don't know. I think every project is a challenge. The theater play “After rehearsal” by Ingmar Bergman was a great adventure. And also the movies “Open Cage” and “Mist” where I participated also as a scriptwriter, were interesting challenges.

Tell us about your participation in the movie Gloria

It was a great character to act. I had to sing, dance, and perform in different stages of her life. It was a great team, all the actors were wonderful, it was a good script, and the director Christian Keller was amazing. We had a lot of fun shooting the film.

How is Gloria's character like you?

I like singing. I like being on stage.

What did you love about Gloria's character?

The energy that she has on stage.

What’s your perfect Sunday afternoon look like?

I like spending time with my family, having a good meal, walking around the city and nature, and going to see something at the theater.

Tell us about your song with Amantes del Futuro for the soundtrack of the Amazon Italian crime drama television series ZeroZeroZero

We recorded ''Amor Traicionado'' song for the soundtrack of a movie called “El placer es Mio” directed by Elisa Miller, a good friend of mine. As I love to sing, it was fun to do it. Now I hear its part of the soundtrack of the series and I'm happy people are listening to it.

If someone was going to make your life into a movie, who would play you?

I have no idea.

What is the next step in your career

I am writing my next film in collaboration with Max Zunino. And I am preparing myself to begin shooting the other 2 films I really like. I would love to work more in other countries too. Let's hope that happens soon.

Any exciting projects we should know?

Yes, I will be releasing soon the movies “El amarre” a horror film directed by Tamae Garategy, and “Los minutos negros” a film noir directed by Mario Muñóz.

MIRELLA JEWELRY DESIGNER

MIRELLA JEWELRY DESIGNER

Jewelry Designer

Mirella is a statement jewelry designer, she is 30 years old, and she lives with her Dachshund, Giorgina, in Vienna.

Her brand name is Mirella. The name Mirella has its origin in the composition of the Italian words „ammirare“ and „bella“ – which means „admire“ and „beautiful“. According to the label’s name, the goal is to create unique admirably and beautiful jewelry. Each statement-piece is hand-crafted and therefore unique. Matching the brand's identity, only high-quality materials like Swarovski Crystals and freshwater pearls are used.

Mirella offers exclusive jewelry: one of a kind, or limited to 3 or max. 10 pieces per design worldwide!

How did you come to start your own line?

Growing up I always created several pieces. And when I say pieces I mean several items, not only jewelry but also fashion pieces and accessories. I was always a creative type. I knew from early on, that I wanted to have my own brand someday. But I have to confess, I never thought it would be jewelry, I always anticipated that it would be a fashion label.

How did you get into fashion?

I created my own pieces of clothing from a very young age. I experimented early on how to wear my clothes differently – so you can say, that fashion was always something I had a passion for.

How would you describe your design aesthetic?

I design statement jewelry which means that everything is bold, attention-drawing, and spectacular. I’ve always loved everything sparkling, so it was a no brainer that my jewelry had to sparkle as much as possible.

Therefore, my jewelry pieces aren’t for shy insecure people. Those who wear my pieces stand out and they like that fact. It’s part of my philosophy that my jewelry highlights what’s already there.

Be bold and show who you are – I want to empower women to be their fabulous selves. And unique, sparkling, attention-grabbing statement jewelry is just the perfect accessory to do so.

How would you describe your technique?

Every single jewelry piece is handmade by myself – in Vienna. This also means that the pieces are really all unique. Even if there are designs I (re)create more than once, each piece is still unique – due to the fact, that it’s handmade, there are slight differences. Which makes the pieces even more special. I put a lot of time and effort into everything that I’m designing and creating.

How your previous career influence you today as a jewelry designer?

I grew up in a creative household. My father is a graphic designer and my mother is a contemporary artist, she paints pictures. So creativity really was always a part of my life. And growing up with creative parents definitely influenced me. I’m sure I don’t really know how much because it was such a given at all times. It’s a natural factor in my existence. And like I said I knew early on, that I wanted to have my brand someday. I just knew that I wanted to work in a creative field. So it was obvious, that I would work on that goal right away after finishing school.

Where do you find inspiration for your creations?

The short answer is life itself. Inspiration just comes to me. I never have to work for it. I never have to „get inspired“, it just happens. And this may be a movie I saw, a color, a photo,… really just anything. Also when I’m shopping for new materials, I never have a plan, I just buy what speaks to me, and then either while buying, some ideas pop in my head right the second, or they „appear“ later. My best ideas come to me right before I fall asleep – but as I said, it just happens. I certainly can’t force inspiration or creativity.

Which phase is the most delicate in creating a piece as a jewelry designer?

The most important moment in creating a piece is having the idea. If the idea is born, the only thing you have to focus on is if and how you can bring your idea to life. Everything else is „easy“

What is elegance according to you?

Confidence. If you’re confident and certain about who you are, you radiate a certain elegance.

What’s next for you professionally?

My goal is to make my jewelry brand more visible, to share my designs and philosophy with a wider audience – especially abroad.

I want to make the world a little bit more sparkly.

STYLE REPORT: THE UGLY SNEAKERS

STYLE REPORT: THE UGLY SNEAKERS

Ugly Sneakers

This season we have the incredible style trend: Ugly sneakers and they do have a controversial form. They are chunky with a big sole that reminds us of the 90s. Movies like Back to the Future are a distinctive recap for this kind of shoes. Not to mention that for a long time this type of shoes was just worn by men.

They are huge, unflattering, and grubby, and now all the fashionistas are wearing them, and they are right up-to-date. Brands like Nike, Addidas or even Balenciaga discovered the trend, and now we have the ugly sneakers in all possible colors.

Trend Report: The Ugly Sneakers

How to style them

The way to style them, well that’s up to you! But, to break the style you can combine them with a flounce dress or with a pair of jeans and an oversized sweater.

But, what makes this shoe so ugly? Well, I guess is because they are big, and chunky, and more important because they have a big sole. I personally have to get used to them… Maybe because I am very small, and I fear that I will look even smaller with a big pair of sneakers; however, I believe the key, how you combine them, and which size you use for your own proportions.

Another trend of 2020 is to be unique, and therefore comfortable. Wearing comfortable clothes has a big momentum back in 2014 when wearing leggings and sneakers became everyday fashion. Thanks to Designers like Kaney West with his Yeezys line with shapewear and sneakers, the trend has spread, till what we have today: The Ugly, Dad sneakers.

Don’t take me wrong, I love to wear comfortable clothes and more importantly comfortable shoes, but that doesn’t mean fashion doesn’t have to be beautiful. I think the key is to find the right balance with your outfit and your shape.

Although I am not a big fan of the triple S sneakers of Balenciaga, because I find them too big for me and for my taste, doesn’t mean I cannot find the right size and embrace the comfort of this new trend.

That being said, please embrace what it makes you unique and beautiful.

To begin with,  the name is said to originate from a dish made in the Appenine heaps of the Abruzzo by woodcutters who made charcoal for fuel. They would cook the dish over a hardwood charcoal fire and utilize penne as opposed to spaghetti since it is less demanding to hurl with the eggs and cheddar.

Second, is the undeniable one that given the significance of alla carbonara, coal specialist's style, that the dish was a dish eaten by coal laborers or that the bottomless utilization of coarsely ground dark pepper looks like coal chips.

Origin hypothesis

There is additionally a hypothesis that in the territory of Ciociaria, in the locale of Lazio about somewhere between Rome and Benevento, pasta was prepared in a Neapolitan style with eggs, grease, and pecorino cheddar. Amid the German control of Rome amid World War II, many white-collar class families scattered from Rome into this district to get away from the harshness of the occupation and found out about this dish. After the war, Roman cooking turned out to be exceptionally famous all through Italy and this dish, now changed into carbonara, turned into a prime case.

Another story proposes that the renowned eatery in the Campo d'Fiori in Rome, La Carbonara, was named after its strength. In spite of the fact that the eatery has been open since the early piece of the twentieth century, and does in truth have carbonara on its menu, the eatery itself denies any such association and reveals to us that the name came to fruition for a different reason.

ATHLEISURE WEAR: ACHIEVE COMFORT AND STYLE

ATHLEISURE WEAR: ACHIEVE COMFORT AND STYLE

Athleisure Wear

There's been a lot of buzz recently about workwear that is both casual and comfortable, but at the same time completely fine to wear to the office. If you've been to a meeting at work you've probably seen this new type of men's style and wondered what the deal was. It's called athleisure, and it's become the go-to fashion choice for men in all types of jobs in the last year or so. Athleisure wear has become so popular it's completely replaced the stuffy suits men used to wear to work in the decades past. One of the big reasons men love this style choice so much is because it is so nimble. Let me explain, you can go from a soccer practice to a business meeting to a light workout without changing one garment, it's that simple. I've compiled some of the facts about Athleisure wear: and how to achieve comfort and style.

If you love the idea of feeling completely comfortable all day long while simultaneously looking stylish then this latest sartorial choice is for you. I know when I first saw these comfortable but tailored shirts I instantly wanted to try one myself. They are basically lightweight and breathable, but sturdy and sharply cut, taking the very best of casual and professional and seamlessly blending the styles to make a perfect hybrid that is at-home anywhere. I like to get some exercise in during my workday, and with this style of clothes doing just that is a snap.

Even if I break a sweat getting some exercise during my workday, the moisture-wicking material makes coming back in from a jog and diving right back into a meeting no problem. The material my shirt is made from wicks away the sweat and then evaporates the moisture so I can be cool and dry when I get back to work after my quick run. It's really perfect for those who like to get some endorphins flowing during their workday and it makes me more productive at work knowing I can do this.

But workwear is only one aspect of athleisure wear. I can rock these outfits on dates or even just to hang with the boys. I personally like the zip-up hoodie and track pants the best. I can wear this outfit to do practically anything, and I know I will look cool, modern, and stylish, and that is important here in California. In fact, the stylish modern look is what made me want to look into this style in the first place. I only noticed that other guys were wearing certain pieces to work after I already had a closet full of athleisure wear. The material is what makes this gear what it is. It's lightweight but seems to retain its tailored-like fit no matter how many times it’s washed. It's breathable and has the moisture-wicking tech I like so much, and it just feels smooth against the skin when worn.

So, if you are looking for versatility to go along with your sleek and modern fashion choices, you can't go wrong with athleisure wear for men. Many of your favorite brands have started making this style of clothes. Or, you could check online for companies that do just athleisure wear. These websites that just offer athleisure seem to have the best choices, as they concentrate on just this style of clothes and they’ve perfected the zip hoodie I love. I like to just get dressed once for the day and stay in those clothes no matter what I need to do - athleisure wear is perfect for this lifestyle. I can't recommend trying athleisure wear enough, go out and pick some up today, you won’t regret it!
