FASHION INSTABLOGGER CORINA SANGINES

FASHION INSTABLOGGER CORINA SANGINES

Fashion Instablogger Corina Sangines

My name is Corina and I am a Latin, Miami based, instablogger and fashion enthusiast. Clothing and style are the best forms of expression for me.

But, what happens when you are about to dress up and don’t know what to wear? Can you relate? Surprisingly, that can happen a lot. The truth is, it's very tricky to repeat a piece of clothing, even more, if it stands out (like a green blazer) and have it look different each time.

That’s the reason I sat down in front of my closet for hours, thinking and examining all the dresses, shirts, pants, skirts and accessories that I owned, and I have discovered that the only thing we need to add to our outfits is creativity. Fashion is like art and we are the canvas (I love that analogy), we can get inspiration to make a masterpiece literally from everything, everywhere: our mood, our surroundings, where we are going, the weather, our favorite season or music genre, our role models… All those things will definitely define your style and little by little it will be easier to put an outfit together for any occasion, Because of that I decided to create a monthly Instagram initiative with a hashtag called #3x1deCorina, which consists of creating three outfits that have a single piece in common.

One piece of clothing, Three outfits. Can you believe it?

For example: Let's style a long shirt

For the first outfit, I made a knot in the front of the shirt and paired it with classic blue jeans to make it a casual, day-to-day look. You can wear sandals or sneakers with this and it will look ideal.

What about converting a piece of clothing into another? Of course, you can do that! So this time I wore the long shirt as a dress. Summer is here and this option is the best to look cute and keep it cool.

Last but not least, if you want to feel comfortable and look amazing, shorts are a must. Tuck your long shirt in the front and you’re all set. I go with this look at daytime events like a picnic or a BBQ.

Play with your wardrobe! From statement pieces to classic ones, everything is allowed. They can be transformed into something spectacular and very unique. So, what I'm looking for with this initiative, apart from connecting with my followers, it is to make a cool space where they can find inspiration to create their own styles and recommend them versatile pieces that can make an even more versatile closet.

PERFECT CHICKPEA SALAD FOR SUMMER

PERFECT CHICKPEA SALAD FOR SUMMER

Perfect Chickpea Summer Salad

Today, I bring you guys a very nice chickpea salad for summer, is easy to make and more important is actually healthy. With summer already here, I do prefer to eat more refreshing salads rather eat something warm, and to be honest, I cannot get enough from this salad, no just because is easy and quick to make, but more importantly I like the mix of flavors.

This summer I feel it particularly hot, I think even more than last year, and will not get colder, but actually hotter, and this Chickpea salad is the perfect partner for these hot days ahead of us.

The simplicity of this chickpea salad is the proof of eating healthy and refreshing, whole foods not necessarily mean to eat boring, but rather to get creative. Although I didn't create this salad by myself, my friend Alex made it once, and since then is my weekly routine for weeks.

I love the flavor mix between the sweetness of the figs and the saltiness of the feta cheese, and for a nice twist, you can add some mint sleeves. For the figs you can either use dry figs or fresh ones, for me the dried figs are a bit sweeter and I love them, and as my doctor recommends me to eat the rainbow, what a better salad to prepare than this one that is packed with protein, antioxidants, and fresh vitamins.

SMAK Brushes is a Dublin based company that produces beautiful makeup brushes and makeup essentials. We came across the brand after we made an interview with makeup artist Bryanna Angel, and we were fascinated with their products. Today we bring you guys a little interview about the company.

Tell us about SMAK and what does it stand for

SMAK Brushes is a Dublin-based makeup brand with a focus on makeup brushes and makeup essentials. It was founded in November last year with the goal to provide high-quality makeup brushes at affordable prices.

‘Empowering Confidence and Beauty’ is the driving force we live by and it is the story we want to build for our brand. Feeling confident and beautiful is something that every girl and woman should feel and we want to enable that through our products.

Our mission is to build a strong relationship with our customers and our brand collaborators. We want to know their story and follow up on how they get on with our products. Constant feedback is something we take on board to further improve our products and customer service.

What are the main challenges for small enterprises like you entering into the beauty market?

As a startup, the main challenge is always financial resources. This restrains us straight away in terms of budget spending on promoting ourselves to get out there. It is definitely a tough industry to tap into especially when there are so many other competitors popping up of nowhere who are more fierce in their strategies.

The internet is an amazing platform which can allow anyone to build a business or brand. However, is it noisy and competitive and so perseverance is key to startups nowadays.

The influencers market is also a challenge because as a new brand you want to align with those who share the same passion and goals and who are committed to helping you reach the right audience.  We have experienced some great influencers and some not so helpful ‘influencers’. I think that is part of the journey of any brand who are striving to make their way up.

Who would you recommend approaching to work with for any other startups like you?

There is no better feeling than when you come across genuine people who want to be part of your journey and want to help you grow because they believe in your message and your brand. We were privileged to come across a handful of them and we would be happy to share them with you.

First and foremost we were privileged to come across @Bryanna_angel_mua who is absolutely lovely and so professional. Her work is inspiring and her support is heartfelt!

We also work with these amazing ladies who are simply brilliant, ambitious and inspirational @cailin.tobin Miss Universe Ireland 2017 Winner, @brittanymasonofficial the Director of Miss Universe Ireland, @jennifertaggart the Director of StyleEditUk, @freddie_perrins editor at StyleEditUk, Abbie the owner of @luxebeauty_pboro salon, @debbievanityx the owner of multiple businesses and the @vanityxacademy, @taramakeup_ , @shaunadxyle , @lucyblu_ , @makeupbylaneyxx , @sineadlynn_mua , @niamhgiffen ,  @grainnecoughlanmua

What would you advise startups when embarking into this journey?

We think the most important is to know what is your real motivation why you want to do this, is it for a learning experience, is it the passion for entrepreneurship, is it curiosity and a sense of adventure? Whatever is, make sure it is your foundation and you are committed to making it work.

Everything takes time so don’t feel discouraged if things are getting longer than expected, just keep persevering.

Build a brand, not a business. This is our mission which we are working on and we want to make it happen. In such a competitive market the only way to differentiate from the big players is what you stand for, your message.

What type of makeup brushes do you offer to your customers?

We have two collections at the moment on our website: the Rose Imperial Collection where we offer three different sets of brushes all of BJS quality with mix natural and synthetic hairs for optimum results. The second one is the Vegan-Friendly Collection where we also offer a range of three different brush sets, the Silver Duchess, the Provocateur and the Queen B.  We might develop our exclusive line of brushes so keep an eye on our social media (Instagram is our fave’).

BRITISH MAKEUP ARTIST BRYANNA ANGEL

BRITISH MAKEUP ARTIST BRYANNA ANGEL

British Makeup Artist Bryanna Angel

Bryanna Angel is a British makeup artist, which I recently discovered on Instagram. It is amazing how many talented people you can find nowadays on social media. Bryanna's Instagram is very inspiring because her work is just amazing. She has worked with incredible photographers and models, and she has an astonishing portfolio.

Today we bring you guys a nice interview about her career and how her journey in the fashion world started.

When did you know, you wanted to be a makeup artist?

I think I always did, when young I loved playing with colors and textures mixing makeups, layering products, encouraged by a family of creative, I tried other occupations as a young adult but always came back to makeup so I decided in my 20s my passion was too strong to ignore and set off on a career of learning

Who are some people that have inspired you throughout your career?

My ultimate hero has always been Allan "Whitey" Snyder, the personal makeup artist to The iconic beauty Marilyn Monroe, the man was a genius, despite the misconception that contouring is a modern trend this man was the brains behind the contour we use today. Applying shading to change face shapes adding highlights to accentuate the highest and best points of the face and body, Such a beautiful intelligent creative who understood faces effortlessly.

One of my biggest influence has always been Daniel Sandler, I would sit watching his tutorials, reading his blogs and interviews admiring his clean elegant timeless looks spending hours trying to recreate his masterpieces. Then, the creative dream Danessa Myricks  I was so influenced by her colors and textures, Matt to gloss.

Glowing highlights without harsh lines a woman who truly understands light

How long have you been a makeup artist and how did you get your start in the industry?

Officially 18 although passionate about makeup since a child.

After trying other careers, I couldn’t see myself doing anything other than makeup do finally in my early 20s I decided to do a short course focusing on bridal, after building a successful career in bridal I started to find myself getting bored and complacent, so I helped a friend who was a student Designer on a few shows where by chance a tv producer saw my work and suggested I trained with the BBCs Judith Neame, the head of makeup for the BBC for over 30 years Judith had a successful media makeup stage school training artists in full media makeup, tv, film, fashion, hair, wig making, and SFX .

I went and passed my course with flying colors.

Since then I’ve never looked back, my career grew from strength to strength developing my own aesthetic.

How would you describe your signature look and what is it about the style that sets you except for other makeup artists?

I’d say my look is glossy fashion.

Known for my skin and colorwork keeping the base glowing and vibrant  yet enhancing natural beautiful features

Then adding colors and textures to lips and eyes creating shapes on the glossy skin.

I find product research an addiction studying long and hard finding perfect colors and textures to suit different circumstances making my kit extensive, and unique. I love the constant changes in fashion so the learning never gets boring.

What’s your favorite makeup product?

Daniel Sandler watercolor blushes, I can’t be without these liquids, a liquid color easy to blend leaving a shiny natural fresh color, I use them on cheeks, lips, and eyes

The colors are long-lasting and well thought through.

What does beauty mean to you?

FREEDOM

A personal way of expressing emotions and mood. If you're having a vibrant day you can glow and shine, if your feeling sexy you can show it with dark eyes and seductive red lips. The freedom to create shapes, colors, tones, and textures. Making a face a palette free to create on.

Which are the colors for this season?

More warm colors corals -pinks, rose golds and coppers

Which are the must make-ups every woman should have in the makeup bag

My top 5 are

  • Limelight  must dew oil -under foundation  for a natural glow and conditioning the skin in prep
  • Makeup forever HD foundation -A buildable easy blend foundation that works on all skin types
  • Danessa Myricks highlighters   -She has a color to suit every skin tone and the glow is AMAZING
  • Daniel Sandler watercolor blushers
  • There multi-use and once you use the liquid blush you won’t ever go back to powders.
  • My recent can't live without is the BECCA cosmetics be lightful powder palette the 2 big powders in this set are amazing
